Was one of eight people doing a usability study on a website being developed about child safety in the home. Compensation: $25 gift card.
Honestly, the website's going to need a huge structural overhaul. Nobody is going to visit a website just for a bunch of randomized safety tips. The project seems to be the product of insular researchers who don't really have a good grip on professional content generation and web design. The site didn't even have a search bar. A search bar! The content was pretty much begging to be a wiki, but it's not structured that way, and there's no meaningful way to retrieve information.
Anyway, I'm glad that I was able to contribute my opinions, though I wonder how many of my suggestions will be implemented. They hope to launch in the summer, and I think they have a long way to go.
I wish they'd pay me to edit and restructure the damn thing. Why am I not a billionaire?
